Scoring
Creasing of the material, done to ensure the stock won't crack, in order to facilitate a clean, crisp fold. (Note: width, pressure and matrix are critical elements in the die cutting production process. Be sure to confer with the experts at DL's on any questions regarding width, pressure and matrix.)
Cut Scoring
A process by which the stock is partially cut, breaking the fiber enough to attain a crease for folding.
Kiss Cutting
In this process a die is used to cut through the attached backing sheet as found on adhesive labels and stickers
Perfing
A series of punctures or holes cut through the stock for the purpose of removing a specified section such as business reply cards, postcards, etc. Perfing is measured by how many holes are cut per inch, beginning at 4 and increasing to as many as 72, which is typically referred to as microperfing. Testing is available to determine the most appropriate perf for your selected stock.
